Short Term

• Difficulty or painful swallowing
• Skin irritation
• Weight loss
• Nausea
• Decreased appetite

Long Term

After the short-term side effects of radiation therapy resolve, others may become noticeable months or years later.

• Rib pain or fracture

• Skin darkening or thickening
• Heart disease
• Difficulty swallowing
• Blood in sputum
