Research Outcomes

The Foundation's researchers are generating results that are advancing practice and improving outcomes for patients. Innovative clinicians developed the resources listed below with grants supported by donors, and thousands of providers are using them to enhance patient care.

Illustrating the Radiation Therapy Experience

Daniel Golden, MD, MHPE, created the “Communicating the External Beam Radiotherapy Experience” (CEBRE) series of discussion guides to facilitate conversations between patients and providers. With support from The ASTRO Foundation, then known as ROI, Dr. Golden’s team developed six guides in the series that combine simple illustrations and text to help patients and caregivers understand what to expect during radiotherapy for breast, central nervous system, digestive system, head and neck, lung and prostate cancers. CEBRE guides are available in both English and Spanish.

Sparking opportunity for an emerging leader in AI research

Tafadzwa L. Chaunzwa, MD, MHS, shares how a grant from the Foundation was a catalyst for his career as a physician scientist working to transform cancer care through AI.
