2027 Call for Volunteers - Trustees
Speed of Light – The ASTRO Foundation is accepting applications from individuals interested in serving on the Board of Trustees. As the 501(c)(3) charitable affiliate to ASTRO, Speed of Light needs a Board composed of diverse perspectives to advance its mission to accelerate bold and innovative ideas in radiation therapy. In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, Speed of Light Trustees are active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and are fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary to advance its mission.
The following process will guide the consideration and selection of candidates for a three-year term as a Trustee on the Speed of Light Board, effective January 1, 2027.
- Candidates should review the Board Responsibilities and the Criteria for Elected Positions to confirm their ability to meet the expectations and commitments required of Trustee service.
- Candidates must complete the online application form by November 2, 2026, to indicate their interest in serving as a Trustee and provide information about their qualifications. One letter of support can be submitted by email. Applications are welcome from all qualified individuals, with priority consideration given to current areas of need: industry or community practice experience.
- The Speed of Light Governance/Nominating Committee will evaluate applications of prospective candidates and develop a slate of nominees for Trustee terms beginning in 2027.
- The Governance/Nominating Committee will present its recommended slate of nominees to the Speed of Light Board of Trustees for consideration and election.
- Trustees will be elected by the current Speed of Light Board for a three-year term, subject to annual ratification by the ASTRO Board of Directors.
Notifications will be sent to applicants following the election.

Volunteers who submitted applications will receive notification by December 1, 2026.
