The American Cancer Society is a national organization that helps people with cancer. The ACS site provides information on where to find financial assistance and get help dealing with insurance problems. Help is also available through its call center at 1-800-227-2345.
CancerCare is an organization that helps people with cancer find assistance of all kinds, including financial support. It has a fact sheet on seeking financial help available in English and Spanish to help you get started.
The Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) offers a wide variety of financial assistance for cancer patients, including assigning case workers to help patients resolve insurance issues (private and Medicare/Medicaid), navigate insurance appeals and resolve debt problems due to cancer diagnosis. They also maintain a national financial resource directory that helps patients discover resources in their area. For more information, call 1-800-532-5274.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Co-pay Assistance Program helps patients with radiation treatment copays as well as drug copays and medical insurance premiums for certain individuals.
