Overview

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) and ASTRO collaborate on a Young Investigator Award that offers career and project support for young (generally 35 and younger) proven investigators in postdoctoral fellowships or who have recently achieved junior faculty positions and are committing their lives to the field of prostate cancer. Young Investigator Awardees are required to attend the Annual PCF Scientific Retreat and Young Investigator Forum, typically held in October, throughout the duration of their award. 

  • Award Amount: $225,000
  • Award Duration: Three years
  • Deadline: Applications closed for 2026 awards

Eligibility

  • Applicant must have a professional degree (MD, DO, PhD, MD-PhD, DSc, ScD, DDM, DDS, DMD, MBBS, or equivalent) and be within six years of completion of their terminal degree or subsequent mentored academic or clinical training program including postdoctoral or clinical fellowships.  
  • Applicant must be a radiation oncologist, radiation or cancer biologist, or radiation physicist.
  • Applicant must be under the direct supervision of a mentor(s). At least one mentor at the applicant’s institution is required.

The following elements are required for application to the PCF Young Investigator Award. Except for the Abstract, the Research Proposal and all supporting documents listed below are uploaded as separate PDF files.

  • Scientific Abstract (500 words maximum)
  • Lay Abstract (500 words maximum)
  • Research Proposal (five-page limit)
  • Letter of Support from Mentor
  • Letter of Support from Department Chair or Cancer Center Director
  • Mentorship Plan from Mentor (two-page limit)
  • Applicant Biosketch (five-page limit)
  • Mentor Biosketches (five-page limit for each)
